2013-2014 Mascot - Pede
Each year at our annual Best Friend Ball we auction off the privilage to be the Mascot for the Lynchburg Humane Society.
You think my haircut looks funny now? You should have seen it when Robert was grooming me himself because he knew I was too shy to be handled by the groomers- can you say “bad hair day”? Well, not anymore. I am pampered and groomed every two weeks now. What can I say? It takes a lot to look this good!
If not for Robert’s determination and affection, I wouldn’t be the kind, well-adjusted and totally awesome dog that I am today. Robert has such a huge heart that over the years my furry family has grown to include five canine/feline siblings- all of whom were rescued or adopted. He thinks we’re all amazing, but I think I’m his favorite!
Robert adores me (he calls me his pride and joy), and I give him unconditional love. I am his protector, his confidant, his back seat driver (I’m constantly telling him to “step on it Grandma”) and he… well, he is my best friend.
I was honored when Robert told me I would be this year’s mascot. My first questions were: Do I get a crown? A cash prize? Lifetime supply of hair product? I’ve put a lot of thought into this. My platforms will be canine literacy and, of course, world peace. But seriously. I am so happy to showcase the fact that there are many wonderful dogs (and cats) just like me available for adoption at the Lynchburg Humane Society. Stop by or search online to find your new best friend.
Sincerely, Pede D
