2012-2013 Mascot - Ladybird Harper

Each year at our annual Best Friend Ball we auction off the privilage to be the Mascot for the Lynchburg Humane Society.

Ladybird's Story:
Ladybird was adopted by the Harpers from a local animal shelter. Her previous owner had surrendered her to the shelter because she had been attacked by another dog and they could not afford her treatment. The shelter put out a plea on Facebook for help, and Becca Harper agreed to take her in to the Emergency Clinic for treatment. Lady (her original name) lived at the clinic for weeks while she went through several foster homes. She is very scared of thunderstorms and does not like to be left alone. During this time she was found to have several old injuries- a healed broken front leg and a hip that was dislocated and never fixed. By this time the staff at Animal Emergency had started calling her Ladybird (in their best Hank Hill voice) and she ended up at the Harper house “temporarily”.  She is still scared of thunderstorms, but with 3 other dogs to keep her company does not mind being left in the house when they are away. "She is very sweet, and gets along with our kids and other pets. She will be having her hip replaced this summer."
